Job Overview: As the Field Marketing Specialist for Japan, you will lead and execute localized marketing programs to drive demand, support sales and channel teams, and build brand awareness in the Japanese market. You’ll translate regional marketing strategies into Japan-specific campaigns, manage events, partner activities, digital campaigns, localization of content, and measurement of marketing performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Japan market field marketing strategy with APAC Head of Marketing and aligned with sales and regional marketing objectives.

  • Plan and execute campaigns (digital, account-based marketing (ABM), events/webinars, partner/co-marketing) to generate leads, pipeline, and brand engagement.

  • Localize regional marketing assets (messaging, content, sales collateral, landing pages) for the Japanese market – including translation and cultural adaptation.

  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Sales Development, Partner teams, and regional marketing to ensure campaign alignment, lead follow-up, hand-off processes, and joint planning.

  • Manage event planning & execution for Japan: sponsored events, trade shows, hosted customer/partner events, post-event reporting and analysis.

  • Oversee localized digital marketing (social, email, web, paid media) to support field activities and demand generation efforts.

  • Define, track and report marketing metrics (MQLs, pipeline contribution, lead quality, conversion rates, ROI of campaigns) and make data-driven optimizations.

  • Manage budget for field marketing initiatives in Japan, liaise with agencies/vendors, vendors’ contracts, deliverables and performance.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the Japanese market – industry trends, competitive landscape, customer behaviour, partner ecosystem.

  • Work effectively in a matrix/global organization: partner with HQ/regional teams while owning local execution.

Job requirements

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Japanese citizen or PR.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 1- 4 years (depending on level) of B2B marketing experience, preferably with field marketing, demand generation or campaign management in Japan.

  • Native or near-native Japanese language skills (JLPT N1); business-level English (spoken and written) required for working with regional teams.

  • Demonstrable experience with campaign planning and execution (online & offline), localization of global programs, and event management.

  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • A results-oriented mindset: able to measure outcomes, optimize campaigns, deliver ROI.

  • Experience working with tools/technologies such as CRM (e.g., Salesforce), marketing automation, analytics, and digital advertising platforms. (Preferred)

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Regional teams, Agencies and Partners.

  • Experience or strong interest in the Japanese market (customer insights, cultural nuances, language, local partners).

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in the same industry vertical (e.g., software/technology, SaaS)

  • Prior experience working in a matrix/global organization with brand/regional/local responsibilities.

  • Experience in Account-Based Marketing (ABM) campaigns.

  • Experience managing budgets, vendors/agencies, and performance tracking.

  • Strong digital marketing experience (especially in the Japanese market) and event planning execution in Japan.

KPIs / Success Metrics:

Examples of how success might be measured in this role include:

  • Number of Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) generated in Japan per quarter.

  • Pipeline value generated or influenced by marketing activities in Japan.

  • Conversion rates from campaign → lead → opportunity.

  • Number and quality of events/webinars run, attendee metrics, and follow-up conversion.

  • ROI of field marketing expenditure (cost per lead, cost per opportunity).

  • Sales satisfaction/feedback on marketing support.

  • Local brand awareness/market penetration metrics (depending on company maturity in Japan).
