Job Overview: We are currently looking for an experienced Legal Counsel (3-5 years of experiences) to join our legal team for APAC region.
Position: Legal Counsel
Employment type: Contract (8 months)
Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Key responsibilities:
Commercial Contracting & Negotiation
Review, draft, negotiate and advise on a broad range of commercial agreements, including Services Agreements, Statements of Work (SOW), Software and Cloud Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Subcontractor Agreements, Teaming Agreements, Vendor and Supplier Terms & etc.
Lead negotiations with customers, vendors, partners and external counsel where required.
Assess contractual risks and provide practical, business-oriented recommendations.
Draft and maintain legal templates, fallback provisions and negotiation guidance.
Tender, Procurement & Bid Support
Support regional tender activities including RFP, RFQ and RFI reviews.
Identify legal, commercial and compliance risks in procurement documentation.
Review customer contractual requirements and propose appropriate deviations.
Support contract structuring and risk mitigation during bid and proposal stages.
Provide legal guidance for vendor registrations, customer onboarding requirements and qualification processes.
Legal Advisory
Provide day-to-day legal advice to stakeholders across APAC.
Support management in addressing complex legal and commercial matters.
Assess legal and operational risks for high‑value or strategic deals, ensuring compliance with internal policies and approval requirements.
Support incident management by advising on contractual rights, obligations, potential exposure, and risk mitigation strategies.
Job requirements
Key requirements:
Qualified lawyer with a recognized law degree and admission to practice in a relevant jurisdiction.
3 to 5+ years of post‑qualification experience, ideally gained in‑house or with strong commercial exposure.
Proven experience supporting multi‑jurisdictional or APAC businesses.
Strong background in commercial contracting, including customer, partner, procurement, software, and professional services agreements.
Fluency in English (written and spoken); Chinese language capability is an advantage.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across functions and seniority levels.
A pragmatic, solutions‑oriented mindset with strong risk‑based judgment.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
